Description
AWHONN recommends that you take the Hemodynamic Function and Assessment course as the foundation before completing the remaining courses.
Approximately 1 in 10 obstetric patients are admitted to the ICU with diagnoses that include but not limited to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), thromboembolism, and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). Regardless of the location, caring for these patients often involves a multidisciplinary team that includes providers and nursing staff from obstetrics, critical care, and the emergency department. Throughout these courses, you will learn the physiologic changes in pregnancy as well as additional risk factors that predispose pregnant people to thromboembolic events, DKA, DIC, and cardiac disease. Using critical thinking concepts presented in case scenario format, you will apply knowledge of key pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies in the management of these patients.
This bundle includes:
Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC)
Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
Venous Thromboembolism in Pregnancy (VTE)
Cardiac Disease and Pregnancy
Nursing Contact Hours
5.75 nursing contact hours (CNE available through 05/31/2025)
